I’m always in trouble if I need some files for samba. CIFS is rarely used, and if I need to configure something regarding Windows-compatible shares then I don’t know where to find these files. This time we had a 1:1 migration, everything was fine, the SAP runs smoothly on the target cluster, switchtest was made too. But this damn Samba, it didn’t want to work. And because of this we almost must to cancel the migration a go with the fallback plan back. The only thing missing was the smbpasswd file. So here are the locations of the CIFS config files you need to check in case of a migration:
drwxr-xr-x 4 root sys 8192 Jul 25 14:59 /var/opt/samba/locks
-rw-r–r– 1 root root 167896 Jul 25 05:08 /var/opt/samba/log.nmbd
-rw-r–r– 1 root root 107643 Jul 25 05:08 /var/opt/samba/log.smbd
